J D’s Steel Meeting last weekend was another resounding success with representation from Scotland, Ireland, England and Wales! As has been the format in the past the guys who are new to the instrument had the opportunity to give it a go, either strut their stuff! or pick up some tips and tricks from those who have been at it a year or three!!
After the customary ‘round robin’ come in, in turn or when you can session which is always fun! The evening then progressed with a few numbers form those who have been at it a while and then we rounded off with a half hour from David Hartley.
During the proceedings we also had the presentation of the European Steel Guitar Hall of Fame Medals by Digby Hardy, the recipients being Gordon Huntley (Posthumously) Basil Henriques, Rod King and Sarah Jory (accepted by Mike Fereday as she was unwell and unable to attend) Those photos are all on the galleries page!
There was a great atmosphere among the players with a range of emotions running from fear and fright to it’ll be alright on the night! But we never heard the audience complain!
A great day was had by all !
